VFW National and Department ByLaws allow that Posts within a County may form County Councils to promote mutual support with VFW programs.
The Department of Michigan presently has four chartered County Councils:
- Macomb County Council in District 5
- Oakland County Council in District 5
- Shiawassee County Council in District 9
- Muskegon County Council in District 12
